“Gheorghe Tatarescu” College is situated in the South-West of Romania in Oltenia region, Rovinari city, Gorj county which is a mixture of Romanian history and culture.Our school is a secondary-school level (high-school) and has 15-19 years old students.It provides education in different fields: High school (Science profile-Natural science,Humanistic Profile,Tehnical profile-mechanics and electronics,VET school-professional classes);Courses after high school-Adult Education (Secretary,Tehnician in Chemestry,Numerrically Controlled Machines).Teaching staff comprises 40 teachers,offering educational and teaching guidance,supporting to almost 500 students.We have 3 Informatics labs,Biology lab,Chemistry lab,Physics lab,6 technical labs for practice,interesting library, an amphitheatre and a gym.
Our college conducted many activities such as :Career Caravan,Trades Fair,IDEE Project–Operational Development Project financed by EU where pupils were involved in entrepreneurship activities and coordinating a school magazine,good practices voluntary activities within a campaign that is part of the National Strategy for Community Engagement,initiated by the Ministry of Education. In 2016-2017 we were partners in a National Consortium of the Erasmus+ VET Project -KA1-“Erasmus+-Passport for the future” that has a continuity with another VET Project in this academic year(2019-2020) Erasmus+ European Professionals “.we are one of the partners in a KA 2-Strategic Partnerships about Learning for a Healthy Lifestyle.This year our school has been rewarded with the National and European Etwinning Quality Label with the Project Culture Street no 3,also awarded in Turkey as the second best Project on its field-Culture.Starting this academic year 2019-2020,our school will develop a new project for three years,funded by Romanian Government and European Union.It is called ROSE (Romanian Secondary Education) and deals with school dropout students’problems. Also,by project activities,we are helping them to finish and graduaded highschool.
The teaching staff is fully engaged in the learning process and improvement of the quality of school work and open to innovation and change for finding new solutions in contemporary education.Our mission as high school teachers is not just teaching academics but teaching social skills as well and this represent a challenge for us.
